IMEI, IMSI, ICCID, MSISDN

  • PHONE: IMEI  (International Mobile Equipment Identity)

To get type *#06#
The IMEI  is a unique number to identify GSM, WCDMA, and iDEN mobile phones, as well as some satellite phones. Mostly phone have one IMEI number, but in dual SIM phones are two.

The Structure of an IMEI Number
IMEI numbers either come in a 17 digit or 15 digit sequences of numbers. The IMEI format currently utilized is AA-BBBBBB-CCCCCC-D:
AA: These two digits are for the Reporting Body Identifier, indicating the GSMA approved group that allocated the TAC (Type Allocation Code).
BBBBBB: The remainder of the TAC (FAC)
CCCCCC: Serial sequence of the Model (SNR)
D: Luhn check digit of the entire model or 0 (This is an algorithm that validates the ID number) (CD)

Usage:

The network requests the phone to report it's IMEI at power ON and it can:

  • check it against the list of stolen phones and it could deny the phone registration in the network
  • assign the IMEI to the phone number (in fact IMSI) and keep it in a database
  • use the IMEI in the billing files
  • use the IMSI for statistics of the types of phones accessing the network

IMSI  (Integrated Circuit Card Identifier)

ICCID is for Integrated Circuit Card Identifier. This is a unique serial number of your SIM card. ICCIDs are stored in the SIM cards and are printed on the SIM card during a personalization process. The ICCID is defined by the ITU-T recommendation E.118 as the Primary Account Number. A full ICCID is 19 or 20 characters.
Sometimes it happens that on the SIM card is printed only the last 13 digits of ICCID number. On this basis, the network operator is able to identify the card while an online checker may show incorrect check results.
